Response to a Telemarketer

I use to be sick of getting calls from telemarketers but now I decided that both of us will benefit from the call. I am too cheap to add Caller ID to my home phone service so I answer the phone whenever it rings. I get collection calls for someone with the last name of Juan Ortiz and Nicole Clark. So if one or both of you are reading this, please contact me and I will give you my business number to assist you with getting your finances in order.

Anyway, last night I received a telemarketing call from Bank of America. The young man began to offer me insurance. Unsure if it was life insurance or that new insurance for when you suddenly become ill and can't pay your bills. Besides not wanting the insurance, I prophesy health and healing over my body regularly so I truly believe I do not need this type of insurance.

So after his first pause for me to confirm that he could continue with his script, I asked him that if I listen to his promotion will he let me tell him about Jesus Christ. He replied, "Sure." I will admit I was shocked and should have ran and got my Bible but I decided to wing it.

It took him less than two minutes to go through his marketing program before the offer was recited. When he gave the offer, I declined by saying No, thank you. He then thanked me for my time and gave me an #800 to call if I had questions. Before he could hang up I reminded him that he agreed to listen to me. He said, "Okay."

I asked him if he had a church home or place of worship. He said no and I asked why. He said he works on Sundays. I explained to him that a lot of Christian churches have services on Saturdays also. He did not respond. I shared with him the importance of having a church family and encouraged him to rearrange his work schedule so he can find a church home. He said thanks and good-bye.

Hopefully next time I will be better prepared and instead of beginning with a question about a church home, ask, "Do you know where you will live when you die?" I read this somewhere as a good opening question when you want to witness to someone. Depending on their response, your response should result in telling them Romans 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, you shall be saved.

Another question but it provokes a lengthier conversation is to ask someone, "Do you believe?" I read this on Kenneth Hagin Ministries website. It engages the other person to ask believe in what and any Christian can then share what they believe and why.

Don't let your telemarketing calls go to waste or be one-sided. Share with that person your beliefs. What is the worst that can happen? They hang up. What is the best that can happen?

Have you already added your name to the Do No Call Registry?

https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx

The National Do Not Call Registry gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls at home. Most telemarketers should not call your number once it has been on the registry for 31 days. If they do, you can file a complaint at this Website. You can register your home or mobile phone for free. Your registration will be effective for five years.
