Bigger Than Me

It is such a refreshing feeling when you come to the end of yourself and realize, "Life is much bigger than me." Bigger than all the material possessions, much bigger than your savings account and bigger than your human brain can comprehend.

A friend and I was discussing a comment someone made in a meeting we had. The comment made by the individual referenced her chance of winning a ribbon. A paper ribbon that probably cost less than a penny if made outside the US. A chance to be recognized by her peers as "the best". I was saddened by the comment because I thought how what we are learning and doing is much bigger than that. My friend thought the same.

If I pursue my dreams, I would have missed out on meeting some great people. I think of a single Asian woman from one of my classes who is pursuing her dream as a fashion designer. She is over 30 but going for it anyway. Does she have dreams to be the next Donna Karan- does she make clothes? I am guessing since I do not have designer clothes...YET. Anyway, regardless if she is at the peak of her career at 50 or 60 years of age, she is an intelligent, insightful and remarkable person who I am glad I get to meet in this lifetime.

If I did not take my current job inspite of my desire to work in a fancy office building with fast paced environment, I would not have met some godly women who have encouraged and inspired me to give God all I have and watch Him do his thing. Women- married, single, with and without children, educated and experienced, all colors and sizes but most of all they have huge hearts. They make me proud to be a woman knowing with Christ, all things are possible.

I love the feeling you are describing...I love it when you realize how beautiful the make up of the world is...and when you appreciate all the people who are not like yourself and you realize that's what makes the world go around!

If we could just remember this all day every day we would have much better days.

We remember this infrequently, usually when someone is hurt and we're faced to realize how precious life really is.

Hmm how did I leave a comment on this on March 5th?
