Yesterday when we got home, there was a UPS sticker on my door stating I had a package. It was left at the office of my apartment complex. I assumed it was medicine that I order by mail so I had no anxiety about picking up the package. So after work today I went by the office to pick up the package and the box read: Gates & Sons Barbecue with the famous logo of the man in the suit and top hat. I screamed!

The leasing agent tried to be happy with me but it was clear he was clueless as to the value of the box and its contents. Anyway, the box was open on the bottom but none of the bottles were broken, thank God! I asked him to tape the box back so I could carry it properly and while he did it I shared this is the best sauce in the nation. He smiled a fake smile and I thought, "You poor little man! You have no clue what you will be missing!"
Anyway, I lifted the heavy box to my car walking with a huge smile as if I just got my rent paid in full for a whole year. I was sooooooooooo excited! After loading the box in the back seat of my car, I had to call someone so I called my godfather who is also from Kansas City. He could have screamed with me even though I knew he really wouldn't scream but he seemed excited anyhow. After expressing his excitement, he replies, "So how many bottles we get?" He knew they were guaranteed one if I were to ever step foot in their house again but at this point I did not know who sent the gracious and wonderful gift so I could not promise more than that.
My mind started racing. I knew it was not BrownEnglishMuffin because I had just talked to her today and she would have let it out of the bag. I knew it was not one of my siblings because they would have sent it to themselves. I knew it had to be someone who read my Blog about my Top 10 Moments in KC but who had the financial means to send it? Hmmm.... I was stumped!
I got the box home and turn it on its side so I could read the shipping label. Remember the bottom was busted open when I first received it and after ole dude taped it, I was too excited to turn it upright. I just lifted the box like Superwoman and walked it out to my car. When I got home, I realized the box was really heavy because it contained 12 bottles of sauce. Anyway, I read the label and it was addressed to: Sistah [then my name]. I screamed! There is only one person who addresses me in this way! I called her immediately and screamed in the phone all my gratitude's, thank you's, surprise, love, gratitude's and more thank you's!
After talking to Sistah D, I called my sister in Cali and screamed in the phone. She was just as excited and reminded to share my blessing with others. For a second I thought she only meant the testimony but realized she meant the actual sauce itself. Oh?!! Do I have to? Yes because I am always emailing or telling people: Be blessed and a blessing.
Sorry if you are not one of the recipients- I only have 12 bottles. To the unfamiliar, 12 sounds like a lot but since I have to share, I have to use them wisely. Sistah D gets two since she has never had "real" barbecue and the giver of the gift, and the rest will be determined.
Now if you have an easy recipe to cook beef ribs, send it to me. I need something to put all my sauce on besides chicken and hamburgers! Thank you Sistah D! As I have said many of times before, you have blessed me more than you'll ever know!
