I get up that early to have time to myself before waking my daughter up at 5:50am. I usually pray, read my Bible, sometimes eat breakfast, exercise, read and send emails and usually work on one thing pertaining to my business. I am very efficient at this hour of the morning so you think that would motivate me to not sneak extra sleep.
Anyway, I realized when I do not get up at my scheduled time, it cost me more than time. This is how it makes my world unravel:
- I do not have time to make my lunch for work, so I spend money on snacks and lunch at work.
- I am not good about picking out my clothes for the week so when I get up late I am looking for anything not wrinkled and I have not worn in the last two days.
- If I do not check my business emails everyday, I could miss an opportunity.
- When I do not exercise, I lack energy for a couple of days until I get back on track.
- Sometimes I forget to take my medicine because I do not have time to eat which is required with the medicine I am currently on.
- My daughter gets the same hairstyle two days in a row which results in tangles by the end of day two so we both pay.
- The rush of getting out the door by 7am results in panic because I did not prepare anything the night before so sleeping in makes it even harder.
- The cute dances by my daughter with the pajamas on her head are not cute when you are rushing so it causes confusion in her world since it was funny last week.
- Plus I may have to buy gas at a higher price because I planned to leave on time and get gas at my usual spot that gives me three cents off each gallon.
Getting out of routine can cost me a lot, so I am determined to get it together by Monday. This gives me a few days to buy into the frustrations I have caused myself and get angry enough to change my behavior. I use to be so organized and most people think I still am. These last two days I do not feel like it but I will be.

I used to worry about getting gas from the same spot each time...but then I did the math...3 cents a gallon, say you have a 10 gallon car that's 30 cents each fill saved. Say you fill up twice a month that 60 cents a month...times 12 that's only $5 a YEAR!!! I realized it's not worth it even at 3 cents a gallon cheaper...so now I just fill up wherever I want!
